A chance reading of a newspaper ad will send 16 year old Thomas Byrne into the world within our world.
Following the ad he will find Guardians Incorporated. A seven thousand year old organization charged with protecting the balance between Magic and technology.
Through their guidance technology has kept Magic at bay since the Renaissance, but the balance is shifting and soon all those creatures we've driven into myth and legend will come back with a vengeance.
To protect the present, Guardians Incorporated needs to know the future and to unlock the future they need a cypher.

Julian Rosado-Machain has enjoyed pizza in three continents, BA in Graphic Design, worked building armored vehicles, handcrafted alebrijes, owned a restaurant and swears that he has seen at least one ghost.

10 Tips for Becoming a Better Writer

• Read a lot, and not only of the genre you write about, expand your horizons by reading other genres.
• Keep writing! And when writer’s block hits, and it will. Keep the juice flowing by writing descriptions of everyday objects. I have an essay about my computer mouse somewhere… Just keep writing.
• Be humble.
• Do the research and do it thoroughly.
• Try to go beyond what you wanted to do in the first place.
• Don’t overdo it!
• Find an editor, no matter how good you are (or think you are) editors are your best friends.
• Accept all criticism, yes, even the hateful criticism. Develop a thick skin, but not so thick as to blind you about the constructive criticism.
• Trust your editor.
• Don't rush it! It will come, if you're not satisfied with what you wrote. Erase it and write it again. 
• In this day and age, writers need to become marketers as well, so research and prepare a marketing plan for when that manuscript is ready.

Review
I was hooked from the beginning, the plot was intriguing, fantastic and very different from other mythological books.
It challenges your imagination, it's up to your mind to make this an amazing read with funny, likable characters, and a twist to reality, taking you to magical places you've probably haven't imagined.

There were some parts where my imagination (very limited) could not grasp but found very cool. There were other parts that I really enjoyed, I like physics and thought it was a new approach to a magical story. Don't get me wrong, it's not what you think, if you don't like physics, don't worry it wont ramble about it here.
But I do think it was a new way to see inexplicable events. (Inexplicable because I don't believe they exist in reality but in a mythological, fantasy world, I understand how that could be possible and yet unbelievable if you're human)

I enjoyed the book and I do believe this book is a great read for anyone, doesn't matter how old you are but I could see throughout the book that it was directed to a younger audience. I'm not saying is childish, I mean the main character is 16 but there is something, I'm just not exactly quite sure what it was.

I do want to read the second book, even though you do have an ending here, there's unfinished business that I hope we get to see on the next one.

Favorite parts:
Chapter 9, I didn't see that coming at all. "He had decided to take everything he saw or heard at the mansion without thinking about it too much or he feared he'd go nuts." Think like him and you'll really enjoy the book.
"Would you like me to tell you some of the equations?" This was funny, it's not what you think though.
"any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic," A quote from Arthur C. Clarke, used in the book. I really like it, I find it interesting; could it be possible? "Who was lying and what was real?" I wonder this too. Who do we believe? I hope we find out on the second book.
