The Notebook

A man with a faded, well-worn notebook open in his lap. A woman experiencing a morning ritual she doesn't understand. Until he begins to read to her. The Notebook is an achingly tender story about the enduring power of love, a story of miracles that will stay with you forever. Set amid the austere beauty of coastal North Carolina in 1946, The Notebook begins with the story of Noah Calhoun, a rural Southerner returned home from World War II. Noah, thirty-one, is restoring a plantation home to its former glory, and he is haunted by images of the beautiful girl he met fourteen years earlier, a girl he loved like no other. Unable to find her, yet unwilling to forget the summer they spent together, Noah is content to live with only memories. . until she unexpectedly returns to his town to see him once again. Allie Nelson, twenty-nine, is now engaged to another man, but realizes that the original passion she felt for Noah has not dimmed with the passage of time. Still, the obstacles that once ended their previous relationship remain, and the gulf between their worlds is too vast to ignore. With her impending marriage only weeks away, Allie is forced to confront her hopes and dreams for the future, a future that only she can shape. Like a puzzle within a puzzle, the story of Noah and Allie is just beginning. As it unfolds, their tale miraculously becomes something different, with much higher stakes.

25 Books!

I'm excited because it's only April and I'm already halfway through my reading goal! I chose a goal of 50 books for 2013. This is the first year I read that many books. I loved to read, still do, but I just didn't know how to find more. The most I had read, was 20 books last year. I'm not a fast reader so I had to go with 50 this year. Though, now that I think about it, I should have gone with minimum 4 books per month (challenges), 12 months gives us 48, oh, maybe I did count, I don't remember. But now add YABBC, that takes me up to 60. I think, I'll be able to reach my goal in no time and next year I'll add more books, depending on how many I finish this year.

Free Four Day!

*Here are all my past Days, they're all together in one post but I wanted this one to have its special post as well.

Day 32 of 365 - April 21, 2013
Free 4 Day!

Post anything you want, just make sure it's related to Divergent!

I'm going to talk about my dream cast.

As soon as I found out they were making it into a movie, I was so excited. I usually don't like the movies after I've read the books, but for this I am excited! They always get the characters wrong, they cut off parts that would have been great for the movie and it's just never the same. So, when I heard they were casting for Four and Tris and people started saying it would be Alex Pettyfer and Shailene Woodley, I had never seen her act, I started thinking, who could play them in the movie? Who do I see as Four in my head? Then, someone came to mind!

And I'm excited for the read a long with 365DaysofDivergent, I hope it'll be my fourth time since I'm reading it again as I come up with ideas for the challenges.

Soul Bender Tour

Today I am part of the Soul Bender tour. I have a review and there's a giveaway! Be sure to check out the rest of the stops.

Book

How much can a soul take before it breaks?
Anna Pierce has a vampire boyfriend, a driver's license, real friends for the first time since she was five, and now she faces one of her biggest challenges, senior year at a mostly all girls Catholic high school. Sure, she's a member of the talking crowd now, but she'll never be like everyone else. How can she when the first of her kind has camped out in her dreams?
Little dead girl Emily decides Anna's destiny can wait no longer. It's time for this generation's Touched girl to hunt. Trained in a virtual dream landscape to destroy all in her path, Anna must choose between her destiny, the one beat into her on a nightly basis, and her legacy, the one instilled in her by her parents.
Along the way, old enemies remain dutifully obsessed, new foes lurk in the shadows, and odd Little Duckie Anna Pierce sets out to be social.

Soul Walker

When five-year-old Anna Pierce is offered a chance to have nightmare-free nights for the small price of her voice, she jumps at it. Silence has to be better than all-consuming dreams about blood and death and fangy monsters.
The bargain she strikes comes with a secondary benefit, visions of a person’s future potential. The combination of visions and silence changes her very nature and soon she's diagnosed with autism.
Twelve years of living in her head comes to a screeching halt the moment Peter Davis pulls her out of an icy river. Her new life has her twirling, tiptoeing, and crashing through unfamiliar territory, one filled with a cranky grandma, a knocked up cousin, an unpleasant cousin, a bunch of mostly good vampires, and the boy who rescued her. To top it all off, the deal she made at five is no more.
Anna is expected to talk, to figure out her reemerging nightmares, and to control her ever-growing powers. And she'd better get it done soon because if the good vamps want a piece of a living, breathing Touched girl, the evil ones simply want. They'll take Anna for their very own.

Houston Bookrave!

Let's see how hard it is to write this post from my Nook. I'm hoping it wont take me a long time.

I just found out about Houston Bookrave and I'm excited because it's closer to home, so a couple hours drive I can handle. I still have to see if I can make it, it's still very early but I'll try my best.

There will be many YA, New Adult and Adult authors in Houston but since I read mostly YA, I'll talk about them. The list is not final yet

Since I have less than a year reading and hearing about books before they become movies, I don't know many authors and books yet. I went through the list but I have not read any of the authors attending yet. I've heard about some, many have books published and some are releasing them this year.
Have you read any of this books? Which one did you like best and would recommend reading before Nov. Oh yeah, the event will take place Nov 2, 2013. It'd be great if I could read all of them by then but I'm a slow reader.

Goodreads is not working right now so I can't link the books

Jennifer L. Armentrout

Okay, she is one of the few I've heard about. I've heard great things about the Lux series and I can't wait to read it. I've also heard about Apollyon, though I don't know much about it. These books are definitely on my list to read before Nov.

Jennifer Archer

I've also heard about the Shadow Girl.

Victoria Scott

I downloaded her book The Collector but I still haven't read it. I liked what I saw about it, so I'll read it before Nov. The other authors I don't know much about their books but since it's getting harder to write this long post here, I'll mention their books only.

Jessica Souders - Renegade
Trinity Faegen - The Mephisto Covenant
Kelsey Sutton - Some Quiet Place
PJ Hoover - Solstice
Laura Ellen - Blind Spot
Crissa-Jean Chappell - Narc
C.C. Hunter - Shadow Falls series: Born at Midnight, Awake at Dawn, Taken at Dusk, Whispers at Moonrise, Chosen at Nightfall (Apr 23 release)
Belle Whittington - Cicada
Michelle Picket - PODs June 4 release
Joy Preble - Dreaming Anastasia and Sweet Dead Life Series
JL Spelbring - Perfection May 7 release
Rachel Harris - My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century
Rebecca Maizel - Stolen Nights

They've also announced New Adult and Adult authors attending soo far, they also say many more authors to come, so we'll have to wait and see. You can check the event on the official page.

YABBC Beautiful Creatures

I am part of the YA Blogger Book Club (YABBC) hosted by Alise @ Readers In Wonderland. This month we are reading Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia.

Each month we choose a book, every week there is a discussion where we talk about what we thought about the chapters read.
Here's this week's original discussion Week One

Since the discussions include spoilers of the chapters read, I'll include all my thoughts so far on the book. My blog is spoiler free except for the Read A Longs and Book club discussions.
Continue at your own risk, spoilers ahead

It's a special Friday!

Finally Friday is where I come and talk about stuff not necessarily having to do with books I'm reading, because I need a place to talk about things that I normally wouldn't tell anyone but I want to tell someone. Sort of like a journal but at least I wont feel like I'm talking to myself and there's hope that he might actually read this (which I doubt). So, this is a special post because is April and April is a special month.
