Finally Friday is back! Well, I'm not sure if it's really back. I haven't had many thoughts this month. (That sounds weird) The thing is, I don't really talk much. I'm a quiet person, that's what people that don't know me say. My friends know that I talk a lot but to put up with it, you'd have to be friends with me otherwise you'd be annoyed. I tend to talk about things that I like, it's a problem when I'm talking to people that don't like the same things.
I'm not saying I don't know how to talk about other things, it's just I'm shy and self conscious (which I wouldn't tell you if I wasn't hiding behind my computer screen) but once I start talking about something I really like, there's no way to stop me.
Anyway, you've probably seen the posts I have at the top. I joined the 365 Days of Divergent Challenge and I've been having so much fun! The movie will be coming out March 21, 2014 and The Faction Four made a countdown challenge. There are tons of mini challenges about the first book. We chose a Faction (I chose Dauntless! I'd probably end up factionless though), we've drawn Four, shared quotes and pictures, our favorite characters and songs. There are more things to come, we only know part of them so I'm exciting to find out what else we'll be doing. I've been sharing them all in one post: 365 Days of Divergent, but I'll be creating a new one every 10 days or so, it depends on how crowded the first post gets. I'm trying not to post spoilers so if you haven't read them yet, don't worry, I don't say more than the summary explains.
I saw a tweet that said "authors love to torture us" and it made me wonder. Why are books different than TV shows? We get one episode a week and we don't complain much, also we get one season every year and they always end with the worst cliffhangers. I started comparing a chapter with an episode and a book with a season. We already wait for most sequels for a year which is kind of the same as waiting for the next season. What if we were to read one chapter per week? That would be crazy! I know it looks very different but think about it this way. Most books have around 42 chapters, shows have around 23 episodes per season. Books 1, Shows 0. The book would last longer than the show. Until you time it, an episode lasts about 45 minutes without commercials, you probably read a chapter in 30 minutes or less depending how long it is and how fast you read. I still say the episode is longer so that leaves; Books 1, Shows 1. So it's a tie really. And I'm not even going to mention when they don't have new episodes every week. So, again my question is why are books different than shows?
I wonder how the show Delirium will be different from the book. Will they stay with the first one or are they adding the others as well for the first season? I liked the first book but the ending was awful! I just couldn't believe it ended like that. And just to make sure, I went and read some discussions on the FIRST book to see what they thought about it but they kept talking about the second one. I read major spoilers and I was like WHAT?! She did what? I can't wait to read the second one and get mad at the main character lol
I started these posts 'finally friday' just to share some thoughts, whenever they came to me. I pictured it was a random post and what better day to make them than a Friday! When everyone is happy or should be, it's Friday! Ok, I'm ending this now. Thanks for reading, hopefully you made it this far ;D

I saw your 365 days of Divergent posts and have been enjoying them. Can't wait to see what's next. Great points on the tv shows vs. books as well :D Jaclyn @ JC's Book Haven.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you have been enjoying them. It is a fun way to keep us entertained while we wait for the third book and the first movie.
DeleteYou seriously could be my twin. I am the shyest person around people I don't know. If I know you really well, I talk entirely too much. I wish I was one of those people that meets new people everywhere they go and can talk to them for hours immediately upon meeting them. I just don't know what to say! If we can find a common topic we both enjoy, then I'll talk for hours haha. So glad to know I'm not the only one like that! I love keeping up with your 365 days of Divergent posts. I'm curious to see what the topics later in the year are going to be. 365 different things is a lot! I still haven't read Delirium yet. Just add that to my never ending TBR list haha. You're comparison between tv shows and books is really good and definitely got me thinking!
ReplyDeleteI know, my little cousin is the friendliest person I know, she talks to everyone she meets. Definitely glad I'm not alone either lol.
DeleteI'm still very curious to see what else they come up with, 365 things are a lot but I'm excited! I also have a never ending TBR, I keep adding books and I keep reading more that aren't even there. Thanks, I was just wondering because I kept seeing tweets about waiting too long for a book.
