The Iron King

Meghan Chase has a secret destiny; one she could never have imagined.
Something has always felt slightly off in Meghan's life, ever since her father disappeared before her eyes when she was six. She has never quite fit in at school or at home.
When a dark stranger begins watching her from afar, and her prankster best friend becomes strangely protective of her, Meghan senses that everything she's known is about to change.
But she could never have guessed the truth - that she is the daughter of a mythical faery king and is a pawn in a deadly war. Now Meghan will learn just how far she'll go to save someone she cares about, to stop a mysterious evil no faery creature dare face; and to find love with a young prince who might rather see her dead than let her touch his icy heart.

This is the first fey book I've ever read, I didn't know what I was going to find.
This was very fun to read, lots of different characters, human and fey. You have the typical teenager, living a normal life struggling with bullies, crushes and popularity. I'm sure most of us can relate, we've felt at least once that others see us differently than how we really are. Judging us from our lifestyle and not giving us a chance to show them we are more than what we have.

Faeryland is a very interesting place, filled with different characters and settings created by our imagination. At first I didn't know how this plot would unravel but it was very well developed, interesting and keeps you wondering what will happen next.
It's like a mix of different stories and characters turned into a fantastical world made from realistic dreams and human accomplishments.
This keeps your imagination running the whole time, living an adventure filled with magical places and characters.

We learn to be patient, brave and to have hope even when we feel like we've lost everything and there's no point in continuing. The strength comes from our goal and how much it means to us but to think carefully what we want and if we're willing to pay the price.

I have no idea how this story could end; the plot revolves around a special power that comes from our dreams and goals, very dangerous but I don't see how it could be defeated. I'm very interested to see how the rest of the story unfolds.

Favorite parts:
“Mortals have perfected the art of not seeing what they don't expect to be there.”
"There is always a choice.”
"the Ice Prince was making jokes now; the world must be ending.”

  1. I haven't read this series yet. I like that with all the fey stuff there's the typical teen stuff too. Ant the "living an adventure" part sounds very promising.
