My Divergent Story!

*Here are all my past Days, they're all together in one post but I felt like this one had to have its own post.

Day 31 of 365 - April 20, 2013

My Divergent Story!

How did you hear about Divergent? Share your story!

I found this book a little late, I read it in November, 2012 for the first time and as soon as I finished it, I read Insurgent and as soon as I finished that one, I read both of them a second time. And I'm excited for the read a long with 365DaysofDivergent, I hope it'll be my fourth time since I'm reading it again as I come up with ideas for the challenges.

First, I think you need to know I used to judge books by their cover and title.
By September that I joined Goodreads, I started seeing this book everywhere and I had even read a little about it, and yes my initial reaction was, this is like the Hunger Games. I didn't understand what the big deal about it was, I never found it interesting so I read other books.
I was in a book club, read by theme and I needed the highest rated bok on my to read list. The books I had were the last ones from different series so I had to go look for one with high ratings. Guess which book came back to me! Of course it was Divergent, with one of the higher ratings, I even had to go through lists, it was just too much that I decided to just choose that one. All of that happened during the last week of October. So I had picked a book but I still didn't want to read it, I even kept postponing it. It took me 11 days to actually pick it up. The story after that, yes, I couldn't put it down, I even had to look for the second one right away. And knowing there was no third, I had to read them again. I loved both books that I just couldn't move on and I didn't pick up another book the rest of the month. This is my second favorite series, really close to the first one. They might even be a tie, no favorites, I love both the same. (no, the Hunger Games is not the first, and it is way different!)

The moral of this story? Always give a book a chance, you don't know where you'll find your favorite one! (I think goodreads says something like that)

  2. Do you not like The Hunger Games? My first thought when I saw this cover was that it would be like that one too, but I love that series...it's one of my top ones. I am so glad you found one that you loved even though you had trepidation at first! Jaclyn @ JC's Book Haven.

    1. I do like the Hunger Games, it's just I like Divergent way more! Divergent is one of my favorites, and the Hunger Games is another movie I enjoyed, and the books I liked after I watched the movie. And it is not the same, I mean I thought I wouldn't like it or that I'd be comparing them, that did not happen. They are just different and great by themselves.

    1. Yes, it has happened more than once for me. That's why I try to give them a chance before I start judging them

  4. Oh, I've got it here...but haven't had the time to get to it. I loved what I was hearing about it from everyone and a friends daughter told me how much she loved it (we do share tastes) and I picked it up, right away. lol. So glad you enjoyed it.
